Herbal activities magically in your own calendar!

The best way to learn herbalism is to do a little bit every day - so we've built you a whole activities calendar that will feed itself automagically right into your own calendar of choice. You can even set notifications so that you don't forget to try fun new herby things!

Here's the link to the calendar that you can check out before you set it up to feed into your calendar - in fact, you can use this link anytime:

Here's a video to show you how to add the calendar to a Google calendar - the other systems are similar, and there are detailed instructions below:

Below are some general tips, and then the written instructions for each different brand of online calendar system (Google, Outlook, etc). Each one also has the URL that you'll need to paste into your calendar.

General Tips

Whichever system you use, you may find that you need to add it first on your computer browser version and then also on your phone app – on the phone app you only have to check the box that is already present to confirm that you also want to see this calendar on your phone (as opposed to only on your desktop).

And a note for if it doesn't work the first time:

Getting technology from different companies to talk to each other is not always a smooth process, so sometimes you have to try it twice, or hit refresh, or do it but then wait a few hours until the underlying system refreshes.

Each calendar system “fetches” calendar events from other places on a regular schedule – some happen once an hour or even more often than that. Some are slower – Google is typically only once every 12-24 hours!

So this is one of those times when we have to remember that the internet is basically held together with duct tape and crossed fingers.

Or in other words, don't worry if you have to try it twice, or if you have to walk away and the next morning it's suddenly all there - that's the internet for you!

Google Calendar Instructions

Tips: It’s much easier to do this on your computer, not your phone, but if you need to do it from your phone instead of a computer, it can only be done from the web browser; the app doesn't have the option you need. Don't worry - the calendar will show up in the app, you just can't add it there.

Once you’ve added it from the browser, if it’s not showing up on your phone app, click the "pancakes" menu icon in the upper left: you’ll see the choices of how to display the calendar, and then the colored checkboxes of which calendars to display. Click the CommonWealth Holistic Herbalism box.

Google typically only refreshes calendar feeds twice a day (why so few? It’s a mystery.) so if you don’t see everything in there immediately but you DO see the calendar checkbox is checked, then just give it 12 hours! It feels weird to just wait, but every time i’ve done it, it does show up the next day. On the other hand, sometimes it happens immediately. Who can know the ways of the internet! :-)
